<p>What state? Are both students white? Gender also is important at Middlebury (women have a much lower acceptance rate than men). Student one is a woman. Is student two male or female?</p>

<p>For Middlebury, student 1 has a decent chance if Valedictorian from a respected public school. The ACT score won’t help or hurt. Skiing is a plus.</p>

<p>Student two I predict will get waitlisted at Middlebury. SAT scores are not as impressive and kids not in the top 10% are usually recruited athletes, legacies, development cases, or URMs. If recruited for a sport, chances will increase.</p>

<p>Middlebury has very low Asian population so I believe Student 2 will have good chances if she checks the Asian Box for Middlebury.</p>

<p>I am Asian male and I was accepted with very generous FA package.</p>

<p>Being Asian doesn’t help as much as it might for other URMs. Women will have a much harder time getting into Midd, as the applicant pool skews toward women. For example, for the class entering last fall, 4652 women applied and 736 were admitted (15.8%). For men, 3332 applied and 639 were accepted (19.1%).</p>
