So I applied for transferring to UCLA this year.

But I've got a serious situation here..I just noticed on assist.org that "ALL preparatory courses should be completed by THE SPRING TERM JUST PRIOR TO TRANSFER.

Does this mean I have to finish all the prerequisites by the end of last Fall (Fall 2013)? Or this means as long as I finished it by this spring (Spring 2014) then I should be fine? I am so worried right now because I still have ONE PREREQUISITES IN PROGRESS...does this mean I got rejected automatically? HELP!!!

no man, you are fine.

Thanks man! But thats what I thought until I saw this post
<a href=“UCLA Business Econ question - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1453191-ucla-business-econ-question.html

He was applying for biz econ (which is the same major as me), and he’s got a 3.94 GPA. But he actually got rejected at the end…he assumed that having one pre-reqs in progress is the reason why he got rejected…

Ah yes, business economics is fairly cut-throat. The average GPA of someone admitted for that major at UCLA is about a 3.93, so to be honest, that guy was barely even average in terms of his grade competition. At that kind of caliber, I would imagine the smallest differences can make you or break you… This being said, you are not automatically disqualified for having one pre-req in progress. How is the rest of your application? EC’s? Work History? Personal Statements? These will matter a lot as well.

@Freetofly112…thank you, at least i have some hope…i reread that post and I think that guy was talking about that he didn’t take that pre-reqs at all even in his very last Spring term…i am now more comforted…thx so much for your help!

so I’ve got a little bit lower GPA than the avg admitted…I am TAP certified but Ive got a B in my major class…got one year part-time work experience…volunteer at school…did some projects and presented in some research conferences…basically like that…what do you think? but like you said it is cut-throat…i feel I am gonna be a little bit stressful waiting for the next month…

Life is handing you an opportunity here. To learn how to deal with uncertainty and stress. It sounds like you have a lot that would look good to admissions at UCLA, I hope you get in. But if you don’t its not the end of the world. You’ll pick up and get to your goals by another path.

Well said @mikemac. I think after two years of hard work and struggles, I should be able to handle the situation whatever happens. That’s what we really learned and is useful for a lifetime isn’t it. Thanks for the reminder!
