I am a junior this year. i currently have a 3.5 gpa and am in all honors classes with some AP’s. I have not taken my SAT’s yet. I play basketball, volleyball, and track&field. All at varsity levels. I’ve done track at a varisty level since freshmen year. I came 2nd in state as a sophomore at javelin and went to the Regional championship. I am all state as well. I got an email from the coach at Brown who has specifically said, “I would like to invite you to consider throwing for our track program at Brown University.” With my gpa and stuff, do u think I will get into Brown? and what kindof score roughly will I need to get on my SAT’s to make sure I do get into brown?

There is no “magic bullet” to ensure that you’ll get in. That said, I’m not quite sure about how the athletic admissions process works but I know in recent times, Brown has been trying to hold admitted athletes to a comparable academic standard as non-athletes so don’t feel like the coach’s word is 100% at this time.

Feel free to look at the stats of SAT scores and so on of previous classes on the Brown admissions homepage to get a better idea of the scores of people who get accepted. Either way, you gotta work hard and make sure that you do the best as you can.

My friends on the wrestling team got a 24 on the ACT and a friend on the track team got ~1850 on the SAT… If you’re recruited and they deem you EXCEPTIONAL, your standardized test scores may not need to be stellar. However, this is usually not the case. I would say aim for at least 2050-2100

There are many layers to “recruitment”. May I suggest you read posts here as well as repost your question? Many other successful applicants and their parents post on this forum
