abercrombie/lacoste/ralph lauren...... i dont get the diff.

you forgot AE (just thought id point that out).

apparently there is a huge difference between the animal that the company has chosen to display (e.g. a moose, an eagle, or even a little guy riding a horse)

if you ask me this is more than enough to warrant a price difference of $50 for the same color shirt, that also happens to have the same collar, and the same buttons.

There is a massive difference. You obviously aren't privilege to grasp that difference due to your inattendence at Andover, Exeter or the like. Get with it.

hehe... abercrombie ones are more stretchy than the other two, and are known to be "fake-prep" though I think they actually look better on me. Lacoste ones are kinda short (at least on me) and in terms of reputation, they're pretty much equal to the polo ones. Though polos are usually longer and better material. I like polos the best and abercrombie ones next.

i'm not a prep though. i just happen to like collared shirts and wear them every once in a while ;).

Trust me AE, Hollister and Aeropostale are definitely fake prep and Abercrombie is semi fake. Don't get anything from any of those stores because when you walk in to school the next day, 10 other people will wear the same stuff as you and you will look like clones. If you want to look like a real prep J. Crew, J Press, LaCoste, Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren sometimes, LL Bean and Land's End are definitely the way to go. I perseonally am and will buy all of these brands because they simply are more comfortable, look better, ar real prep, and don't show off their name's in giant print across the shirt.

I hate Lands' End. Horrible misuse of the apostrophe. I refuse to shop there. Boycott! Boycott!

Why? I have never shopped at Lands End or LL Bean, but LL bean seems very nice and I really don't know much about Lands End, but why boycott it?

The apostrophe in the name is used incorrectly. (Plural possessive instead of singular possessive.)

Erm, no. Land's End would be the end of one land. Lands' End is the end of multiple lands. It is plural possessive, but that doesn't make it wrong, just a different image.

Lands end and llbean is where i get my uniform/out of school "prep" wear meaning my polo shirts i wear in and out of school...my style out of school which my school would never allow is:
screen tee(used to wear them all the time and buy them constantly never bought ne thing but them shirt wise for 2-3 yrs)
under
WHITE..polo shirt...completely unbuttoned at top...to show shirt...and rolled up sleeves..
it has to be a darker color screen tee..b/c u can see the color thru the polo shirt then
Now put it together w/ a pair of Gap Long and Leans and Im out the door

o and ps: The only type of jeans i wear r gap ones no matter the price..they have to be 1969s or Long and Leans...I have so many pairs of Long and Leans and 2 pairs of 1969s and a few old navy but i turn my nose at them they fit so grossly on me...im not a tall usually in long and leans thats the best part

abercrombie=moose
hollister=seagull-type bird
american eagle=eagle
lacoste=alligator
polo ralph lauren=little guy riding a horse
aeropostale=butterfly
old navy=puppy

I'm not making this up.

They originally wanted it to correspond with the british peninsula, Land's end, but there was a typographical error.

For the last two stores (at least), the stitched icons are different for girls' and guys' shirts

aeropostale: butterfly or bulldog
old navy: whale or puppy

I always get the Aero and Old Navy guy emblems confused.

I have polos from AE (eagle thing), Ralph Lauren (Polo player), and Old Navy (whale), and they're all fine with me as long as they're made from pique material..

blushes Right then, ought to know a bit more British geography. I've always just assumed there was more than one land involved, odd as that would be.

brooks bros - golden fleece
le tigre - tiger
vineyard vines - whale

i personally like le tigre and ralph lauren

lacoste is the way to go.

that's all you need to know :).

I prefer old navy polos
i dont know about mens polos but the womens dont have a puppy- it has a bird
