lafayette did you go to portfolio day and visited wustl?

I went on a regular visit and then came back for Art & Architecture Day. I’ve also gone to an information session at my high school. I didn’t go to Portfolio Day because I don’t have a portfolio :D

Fellow RD hopeful here. Arts and Sciences (PNP sounds great), 4.0 GPA, 2370 SAT, various band/academic team/hospital ECs. Visited in the fall, really nice college (and great food too). I didn’t really hear about the competitiveness of RD until I started reading on CC, so I’m worried too.

im RD too. I think I’m screwed

Because this is a SUPPORTIVE group all you debbie downers, let me just say this: You guys are perfect and unique in you own special way, and the admissions officers will surely see that as well as your impressive academic stats.
~That aside, none of you will get in except me
haha

RD baby! I’m kinda worried though because my scores are low…but ranked #1 son!

^Well, we’re flips because I’m not ranked number one but my scores are pretty good… but I love this school. I got to go on Discovery Weekend. I went because the trip was free, and ended up falling in love. Should’ve applied early decision, dangit! Isn’t this the coolest school ever? Which other school sends you a Christmas card? The lines at the DUC suck, but the food at Bear’s Den pretty much makes up for that. I’m applying to arts and sciences. I love this place and it is my first choice (just above Yale, ironically), but I have no idea how to show more interest without a supplement.

Never visited, but applied because no supplement essay required. Anyways…I am beginning to love it now lol…

GPA-4.0 UW
Rank-2/237
ACT-31
Most rigorous courses 8/9 APs

Anyone of you know if they offer good need-base aids for low-income students? I applied for merit scholarships, but I doubt I will get any. Also, how are there many Asians??

Are any other RD CCers Native American? I believe I’m the sole one here! :(. haha, jk.

I am looking for Asians haha!!

Have visited and interviewed, freaking love the place…

GPA: 3.75UW/4.3 or so W
Rank: Top 10%, barely
ACT: 35
Uber-rigorous schedule (hardest classes in school, plus 24 college credits taken on my own time)

High school’s been fun, but I’m ready to hone in on the areas that really motivate me (in my case, political science).

Oh, and I’m Hispanic- anyone others around?

Really starting to freak out here. I applied RD. And I’ve only had a visit from their admissions office to my school. It’s not feasible for me to fly to St. Louis. So crap, I like Wash U a lot but it looks like I have no interest.
-Architecture
-2190 SAT
-4.0 or 4.75
-22/500

thankyouall - In answer to your financial aid question, I posted this on a previous thread: News release from WashU regarding financial aid:

An Important Update from Student Financial Services
Kevin Crimmins, Admissions Officer, BU06

As of fall 2008, Washington University has eliminated need-based loans as part of the undergraduate financial aid packages to low and middle-income families.

Specifically, this means that both entering freshman and full-time returning undergraduate day-students who have parental incomes of less than $60,000 will not be expected to take out need-based loans and will instead receive grants from the University that will not need to be repaid. Also, families with parental income somewhat higher than $60,000 may also receive additional student loan relief based on demonstrated need and their financial circumstances.

The goal of this loan relief is to increase the ability of students from low- and middle-income families to attend Washington University.

The increase in spending is coming from unrestricted endowments and a general increase in spending. It is not a shuffling of need from other students’ financial aid packages.

“Washington University has a long tradition of working individually with the families of our students to customize a financial aid award that ensures cost does not stand in the way of making a Washington University education a reality,” Chancellor Mark Wrighton said.

Bill Witbrodt, director of Student Financial Services, also added that this will not detract from their ability to work with every students’ family on an individual basis, and that any family with questions about the new policy should not hesitate to contact their office.

I am really hoping for one of those “early” letters like someone’s D got on the 19th…oh, WashU, pick me, pick me! :D.

Thanks! I am loving it even more now!! I am still going to apply for merit scholarships though.

Hm here’s some stats for me (applying RD):

Hawaii
Filipino/White

Hopefully I can win a scholarship or else I’m gonna have to choose elsewhere. I haven’t shown any interest outside of applying for scholarships. Any idea how else I can show interest?

How many scholarships are you guys applying for??

Five. You?

god i second that dpattzlover. i want one of those letters too. i didn’t apply early anywhere… i am kind of freaking out since all of my friend are bragging about their early action acceptances… ugh.

I think I only qualify for three of those, and I am trying to get the one for College of Arts and Science done now.
