All the regrets

... of not college touring.

I applied to the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan kind of late, since I had just changed what I wanted to do with my life. I even took summer classes there and ended up liking the school too much that it became something I was completely obsessed with. Unfortunately, the department I was looking into (Computer Art) was full and they had to roll my application to the Spring semester. I'm now sitting around Louisiana State University, taking Art Histories and Drawing Classes that probably wouldn't transfer into SVA.

I also have an associate's degree in General Studies. Ughh. I'm just stressed out and biting my nails, hoping that I'll be able to transfer into the Spring. I mean, I have my gen. ed courses down and two Art History courses-- the problem is not having comparable studio classes that won't transfer. What do you guys think? Is it possible to be accepted as a transfer student into an art school for the Spring with a bunch of gen. ed courses and no transferable art classes? Ack... I really don't want to wait a year to get into SVA.

“Is it possible to be accepted as a transfer student into an art school for the Spring with a bunch of gen. ed courses and no transferable art classes?”

Your question is extremely narrow and it’s unlikely anyone here could give you anything approaching useful. I’d have a chat w/the intake counselors at the Manhattan school’s admissions office. Good luck.

Is it too late to drop out of LSU without having to pay for a semester’s worth of classes, meals, housing, etc.? You might be best off doing that, getting a job to save up money for SVA, and working on your portfolio. Often studio classes don’t transfer into BFA programs anyway, so don’t worry about missing out if you do spend a semester (or more) at LSU.

You might also want to re-post your question here: [Visual Arts and Film Majors - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/) Someone in that forum may know more about the situation at SVA.
