All those glossy admissions brochures

Now that decisions are (mostly) made, recycling bins are filling with mailings featuring groups of students of varying ethnicities and genders, dressed head-to-toe in college-branded merchandise, “under trees, throwing frisbees, wearing lab coats”:

Agree that many are much of a muchness. Of all the dozens we received, three stand out. U of Chicago, whose mailings were personalized in cool gothic script, or had tantalizing and catchy questions. Clark University, who boldly used color and Rorschach-esque imagery, and Oberlin who used the brown paper bag look with tiny cartoon-ish people. All the others have been pretty forgettable.

Chicago killed an acre of rain forest for all the mailings they sent to my S. And frankly, he has very little chance of getting in. Irritating.

Agree about UChicago. The volume of their mailings was ridiculous.

One of the many we have received was from Wisconsin… there were only pictures… no words other than the addresses. I found it odd - as if reading isn’t all that important.
