MYR:

5.57 W, 3.71 UW

Yeah.. I was pretty ticked off

1370/2070 SAT (750 M, 620 V, 700 W)
34 ACT
GPA-W - 4.3ish
all AP's
Top 10%

Mid-year was slightly better than last year

I have a 1270 SAT--650 Math, 620 CR--27 ACT. I'm ranked in the top ten percent of my class at my high school. I've captained three varsity sports. I've taken 7 AP classes and had A's in all of them. My unweighted GPA is roughly 3.9 and my weighted is 4.33.

For mid year grades I had a 98 in AP English Lit, 95 AP Calc AB, 99 Honors online Earth Science, 97 Advanced Weightlifting. For my second semester I'm taking AP Us History, AP Calc BC, AP English Language and Independant study honors chemistry.

I'm also in state. What are my chances???

do you mind including what you have done to add to your resume since you were deferred. might be interesting to evaluate if it helped when we find out the results.

honestly, since I found out that I was deferred, I just increased my course load by taking AP Us and Hon Chemistry.

Are those classes one semester at your school. I thought honors and ap classes had to be taken for the year? or did you transfer from a reg class to an honors. i did not realize you could take a reg class and switch it to an ap midyear?

my s really could not do much more. he is already in all honors and aps. he is taking one "goof off" class cause there is nothing left to take. many aps conflict with each other on the schedule. in a way, it is a little frustrating to ask a deferred to send in addition info cause there is only a few weeks between getting deferred and having to get the addt info in.

Can you expand on the "additional info" thing? I thought we could just update the ACT/SATs and send in the MYR?

i have read on other threads that kids sent in new awards they received and other recs. i too assumed that either new scores or and myg's were what they wanted but started rethinking that after kids were talking about winning a science fair or a tennis tournament, etc. would seem that a school would only want a significant improvement of some sort. but another school's thread said that if you got deferrred and you did not send in additional info then there would be no reason to look at your app again.

any other thoughts?

hmm.. my semester gpa for this year was W- 5.2 UW-3.8
I have 3 Ap's- 1 Hnrs and 1 spnsh reg...my B was in AP psych..thats it.
I had 2 new club membership...
my previous acc. GPA W was 4.0 UW was 3.6
my SAT M- 710, W- 590 and R- 570 E-8(I know, I suck at writing fast)

O yea and my classes :
AP: Physics B, Environmental. Psychology.
HN: Med science
Reg: Spanish 2
(I know, I love sciences :D)

2007: I'm pretty sure they just wanted updated test scores and MYR. I don't have the deferral letter in front of me, but I believe it said something like "If you have re-taken the SAT or ACT and have achieved higher scores, we welcome new score reports. Please also report mid-year grades by______" Unless the new award that was submitted was like a huge national thing, or unless the rec letter reveals some amazing character that wasn't before shown, I think they're really just looking at improvement in grades/scores.

btw: vick, are you IS or OOS?

IS....can't afford OOS

Here's a copy of deferal letter (is "deferal"a word?):
WOAH>>>>>>>>>>>>
the letter got taken off (from UNC homepage..)5 minutes ago...lol....abt 10 minutes ago,...it checked it..

although.. status page is still the same..

4.35 GPA W, 3.68 GPA UW
Top 10%...school only does deciles
All Honors classes plus 9 APs
Solid ECs and very unique volunteer work

Also sent in a nice letter talking about what I've done since applying...some more awards, more volunteer projects, etc etc.

BUT. I AM OOS. so whatever.

^^^^o wow...no wonder u got deferred..OOS....well I think they'll accept you this time.

Meh, no such luck, just check the backdoor method and saw that I got rejected.

backdoor method??

Deferred OOS, then rejected. Surprisingly, I'm not upset about it. Congrats everyone that got in!!
