My status said my app was getting reviewed, and now it's "Missing HS Transcript"...***? Gahhhh.

Ebola, mine said the exact same thing a few days ago. MAKE SURE you call them and confirm with them that they have your transcript because it turns out they lost mine and I had to have my high school fax them one on monday. Hope this helps.

i applied as a transfer to Tulane about two years ago from a small public school called Southeastern Louisiana University. I didn't have to submit my high school gpa, applied as a sophmore, but my college gpa was a 3.8 and I had some good EC's. I was accepted and offered the $9,000 a year transfer scholarship. Tulane has a great financial aid department, they're one of the few schools in the country to offer transfer schollies. Good luck to everyone still waiting, and if you do come here make sure to get involved in clubs and campus orgs. It's easy to get lost in the shuffle here as a transfer student, especially if you don't make an effort to be active in campus life.

MonStar would you mind elaborating on what types of activities and things you did in order to make friends and become involved? It would be awesome if you could describe in detail your first semester as a transfer. I know I'm nervous about what may come with making a transition to a new school and I'm sure other too would benefit from a first hand description. Thanks.

honestly, i didn't really do much to get involved, but i'm not your typical tulane student. i didn't go straight to college out of highschool, which is why i had to transfer to a better university. i was 22 by the time i got here and i decided to get an apartment with a friend that was starting grad school here rather than live on campus. and i haven't really done anything to get involved with campus life. i'd suggest living on campus as an easy way to meet people. if you're coming in as a soph they'll likely stick you in with the freshman, who are all looking to make friends. also, go to all of the socials and things during orientation, especially the transfer student ones. and if you're into the frat/sorority stuff that is an easy way to meet people. greek life is huge here in certain departments, the B school seems predominantly greek to me. it won't be hard as long as you make an effort.

I think the facebook group for accepted Tulane students is a great idea. I'm starting to seriously start thinking about going here...I haven't heard a single thing not to like about this school. does anyone know about orientation and stuff for transfers?

Recently, I've been thinking about going to Tulane a lot! I hope nothing stops me from enrolling for the fall. An other thing I found out...Tulane hadn't gotten my FAFSA, but I clearly added Tulane as one of the schools on my list. I have no clue what happened there. I just happened to go to the financial aid website and type in my SS and birthday.

ok, finally got around to starting a facebook group for this, so for anyone and everyone interested in, considering, or definatly transfering to Tulane next year go ahead and join...

I was at a recent Tulane reception for admitted students and parents. One student asked about what they do to help transfer students adjust. Apparently there are some separate events for transfer students. I'd write the Admissions office and ask. They have been incredibly responsive with every question we've had to ask them so far.

who all is transferring and why?

where are you at now?

post your h.s. and college stats

post your admissions decision

post if you received any scholarship money

I got in today :D

what were your h.s. and college stats? are you attending? did you get a scholarship? what school are you coming from?

I dont know if i'm attending yet, and i dont know about scholarship money. i still have to visit. check back in this post to see my stats.

It's hard to make friends here and many of the students are not into socializing in class or in general at all. There is a clear division between those who are fraternities and sororities and those who are not. In addition, the workload is so intense at times that I can't even participate in extracurriculars and I would like a more well-rounded college experience.

zsf, from what I've seen from visiting Tulane, and what I've heard from students, alumni and parents, you will definitely have a more rounded college experience at Tulane. The students are extremely friendly, love to socialize, but the programs seem really well run. Sounds like it might be the right place for you - I would be surprised if you didn't like it.

Contrats!! I should be hearing any day now...:/

Just wondering are people finding out online, email or regular mail?

I really hope so MoonMaid, I should be going to visit in the next three weeks. Whenever I hear people talking about Tulane and how much they love it really makes me excited to go see it for myself. A well rounded college experience is EXACTLY what I need right now and what I have been previously lacking...

For anyone who hasn't heard yet, I called the admissions office myself because I was concerned that I hadn't heard yet. Try doing that, they will give you your decision over the phone if they have made it already. For some reason it seems like they are lagging behind in their application updates through the online system. Hope this helps!

I GOT IN! If they give me enough money, I'm so there. :)

zsf, I forgot to say congratulations! I've been poking around the Tulane boards because my S will be a freshman this fall (he's about 99.44% decided).

From what I've seen so far of Tulane students, and from what I've heard from parents and alums, as well as administrators, it seems like Tulane would be a really good fit for you. Public health is going to be so hands on for you there, and of course there are limitless opportunities for socializing and fun. That said, the students seem to have their heads on straight - while one student who gave us a tour was wearing shorts and sandals and seemed like a happy surfer dude kinda guy, he was majoring in something like neuroscience and was an honors student. The student body struck me as extremely smart but fun. I think the real party animal/no study students probably flunk out in their first year. The sports facilities and new student center are amazing.

Congrats again and good luck to you.
