All UCSD accepted applicant please come in!!!

I am wondering anyone got into sixth college?

I checked out the whole acceptance thread and seems like I am the only one go to sixth.

Actually I have no idea what is the differences between each college, Can someone tell me?

I just asked my friend when I was applying to UCSD for the college and he just told me to choose

Marshall>sixth>warren but I didn't ask why.

Anyway, I will be in sixth which is my second choice. Any people here with me?

You’re not the only one that got into sixth, i know a lot of people that got into sixth
Here’s the site that tells you the differences b/w the 6 colleges. [The Undergraduate College System](UC San Diego - Compass)

I got into warren. what major are you? I heard warren is better for engineers or something.

The differences in colleges doesnt have as big an impact for transfers as it does for freshmen; The college you get as a freshmen decides their dorms, GE’s, etc. However for transfers, we have our own dorms and we finish most of our GE’s at our CC. However, depending on which college you get accepted to, your major, and if you finished IGETC, you might need to take a few extra classes.

For example with Warrens GE’s (woooo go warren!)
Warren transfers with IGETC: only need to take 3 extra classes.
Warren transfers without IGETC: have the same requirement as freshmen (that sucks)

The reason why warren is better for engineers is because GE’s overlap with pre-reqs. Muir is often the most sought after college because its GE’s are very flexible, and IGETC covers your GE’s almost completely. Revelle is often called the hardest college because of its focus on several science type GE’s.

Check out the transfer requirements here for each college

Warren: [Academic Requirements](http://warren.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/acad-req.html)
Muir: [John Muir College :: Celebrating the Independent Spirit](http://muir.ucsd.edu/students/transferprograms.shtml)
Marshall: [Transfer Requirements - Thurgood Marshall College :: UC San Diego’s Third College](http://marshall.ucsd.edu/academics/requirements-transfers.html)
Sixth: [Prospective Transfers](http://sixth.ucsd.edu/about/choose_sixth_transfers.html)
Roosevelt: [General Education](http://roosevelt.ucsd.edu/academics/gen-ed/tran-ge.html)
Revelle:[Revelle College: IGETC/TAG for Transfer Students](http://revelle.ucsd.edu/academics/grad-requirements/igetc-tag.html)

haha for a side note, my attempt at an unbiased opinion on the colleges would be (Muir>Warren>Sixth>Marshall>Revelle>Roosevelt)

It’s something you have to look at on a personal basis and see which college would work best for your goals and major. Sixth is pretty easy as a transfer with IGETC though:

“minimum of 60 upper-division units, including the practicum project/course and CAT 125, the practicum writing requirement”.

I wouldn’t really stress that much over your college as a transfer though, unless you were in Revelle or Roosevelt.

So happy I got into Warren, I’m pre-med and the 3 upper div classes outside my major works perfectly.

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. I got into Sixth as well :)

o…thanks guys!!! I am majoring in Math/Econ (joint major).

Is that good to major in math/econ at sixth??

Do you think Muir is a suitable college for an Econ Major? I was also wondering about the General Ed requirement for Muir College. If I’m not wrong, it mentioned that all “writing” classes taken at CC will not count towards general ed… why is this?

hey, I got in sixth college too

@ kan9160 Hey that’s my major! I just got the letter, got into Warren(Wooooo go warren lol!)
Did u apply to Ucla & or Cal 2?!

@SH2mathecon

Yes I did. I applied UCLA math/econ, Cal for applied math.

How about you??

@kan9160

what is ur stats? if you dont mind
since both of my friend and me are math&econ. we both got in marshall. i wonder if different stats get into different colleges.

Got into Muir, but unlikely to be enrolling

@wcwei

My GPA after fall was 3.74 with IGETC done and 2 pre-reg left.

I am taking that two in winter quarter now. (Linear algebra/discrete math)

How about your stat?? I think I am not good enough so that I couldn’t get into my first choice Marshall.

well, actually discrete math is not a pre reg for UCSD, so I only left with linear algebra.

kan9160, hey me too!! math and econ and sixth college

@kan9160 Yeppp I’m aboard the same boat but I’m not taking discreet math since it was recommended 2 B taken @ Cal!
@ other Math/Econs: lets post some stats here!
I’ll start with myself
GPA: 3.8
TAP participant for both Berkeley & LA
ECs & Awards: President of a campus club, permanent AGS member, NSF scholarship,…
Essay: Solid

Anyone else get an email today from ucsd… lol LATTTE also i got an email from marshal even before i got the email to check my status.

Just got the email today too lol. Anybody planning to go to tritonday (april 7th) Although its meant as a freshmen admit day, its doubling as a community event for everyone. I hope transfer admit day will be as extravegant as tritonday, although I doubt it lol

@kan9160
I have a 3.89 with 1 major requirement and 1 Igetc left,
got in marshall but it is my third choice.

I’m a Sixth student right now finishing up next quarter. The whole “multiple college” thing is pretty much worthless. Don’t freak out if you get into your 2nd/3rd choice.
