The differences in colleges doesnt have as big an impact for transfers as it does for freshmen; The college you get as a freshmen decides their dorms, GE’s, etc. However for transfers, we have our own dorms and we finish most of our GE’s at our CC. However, depending on which college you get accepted to, your major, and if you finished IGETC, you might need to take a few extra classes.

For example with Warrens GE’s (woooo go warren!)
Warren transfers with IGETC: only need to take 3 extra classes.
Warren transfers without IGETC: have the same requirement as freshmen (that sucks)

The reason why warren is better for engineers is because GE’s overlap with pre-reqs. Muir is often the most sought after college because its GE’s are very flexible, and IGETC covers your GE’s almost completely. Revelle is often called the hardest college because of its focus on several science type GE’s.

Check out the transfer requirements here for each college

It’s something you have to look at on a personal basis and see which college would work best for your goals and major. Sixth is pretty easy as a transfer with IGETC though:

“minimum of 60 upper-division units, including the practicum project/course and CAT 125, the practicum writing requirement”.

I wouldn’t really stress that much over your college as a transfer though, unless you were in Revelle or Roosevelt.

So happy I got into Warren, I’m pre-med and the 3 upper div classes outside my major works perfectly.

Do you think Muir is a suitable college for an Econ Major? I was also wondering about the General Ed requirement for Muir College. If I’m not wrong, it mentioned that all “writing” classes taken at CC will not count towards general ed… why is this?

what is ur stats? if you dont mind
since both of my friend and me are math&econ. we both got in marshall. i wonder if different stats get into different colleges.

@kan9160 Yeppp I’m aboard the same boat but I’m not taking discreet math since it was recommended 2 B taken @ Cal!
@ other Math/Econs: lets post some stats here!
I’ll start with myself
GPA: 3.8
TAP participant for both Berkeley & LA
ECs & Awards: President of a campus club, permanent AGS member, NSF scholarship,…
Essay: Solid

Just got the email today too lol. Anybody planning to go to tritonday (april 7th) Although its meant as a freshmen admit day, its doubling as a community event for everyone. I hope transfer admit day will be as extravegant as tritonday, although I doubt it lol

I’m a Sixth student right now finishing up next quarter. The whole “multiple college” thing is pretty much worthless. Don’t freak out if you get into your 2nd/3rd choice.
