All who want engineering with low SAT's....

Would like to know where those with lower SAT's have applied other than Michigan. I only had 1290 even though I have a class rank of 1/445. Got into
Purdue and waiting to hear from Michigan. Also had Virgnia Tech as a back up. Anybody else with low scores have Purdue as a back up? How does their engineering program compare to Michigan?

purdue is ranked 9th nationally in undergraduate engineering programs. Michigan is ranked 7th. but Michigan is WAY harder to get into. purdue has an acceptance rate of 82% compared to 53% for michigan. if the you have time apply to u of illinois urbana champaign. it has the 3rd best engineering program in the country (after MIT and Stanford, tied third with Caltech!!!) and it is pretty easy to get into. if u inted o major in civil or materials engineering it has the best programs in the country, even better than MIT

yeah i applied late to UMich for engineering with a 1290 SAT, im still waiting to hear back from them. I got into UIllinois-Urbana Champaign for computer engineering, which is ranked #4.

sonya, what was your class rank?

my school doesnt rank but im in the top 6% out of about 450

Baghdady1989 ...U of illinois engineering is not "easy" to get in to. Its just as hard to get into as u mich if not harder...Thats engineering...but overall, it is easier to get into u of ill than michigan, yes

620 V 730 M = 1350 total

740 IIC...

Applied to MIT and UMich to see how lucky i get :P

I applied engineering very, very late. By very very late, I mean it's in the mail as we speak. I sent scores about a week ago. Do I have any shot whatsoever. I'm guessing no because my GPA is a 3.6 weighted (very competative school :/). My scores are in my favor: 1460, math iic 800, physics 780, writing 790. I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm incredibly pi$$ed that I didn't have the sense to apply earlier, even before Christmas break.

BTW, how much attention does U Mich pay to individual grades on your transcript. Will they consider the fact that in the last year I've shown a big improvement (3.2 to 3.8, big for me at least) and gotten great grades in physics and math? I feel like I deserve to get in, but I have a strong feeling that I won't.

Sonya...since we have same scores I'm anxious to see if we're admitted. It's
nice to know I'm not the only one without a 1400 SAT. :)

Mediocretes, your SAT will help. As will your GPA jumping from 3.2 to 3.8. Upward trends will always be a positive.

But your GPA and your applying late will hurtl Your SAT IIs won't be considered (Michigan does not look at SAT IIs).

Did you take AP classes? How about AP exams? Did you do well there?
