Tell me all you know about Lafayette.

Thanks :)

I am living in Lafayette currently (summer housing) and it has been great so far. I’m in a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms… all for 4 guys. The rooms are air-conditioned, although mine tends to be decide when it wants to work.

Rooms are pretty large with high ceilings. Closets are large, although two people are sharing each one.

Downstairs there is a large common room area with 2 TVs, a large study room, and a “gym” (old and crappy). There is also a computer room with free printing.

The surrounding area is decent. Cheap food (and good if you like Asian food). Subway access is great as you can grab the NRW and 6 two blocks away.

In terms of nightlife, SoHo is a short walk away, but I tended to go elsewhere for bars/club (which wasn’t a problem since the subways are so convenient).

Hope this helps.

sounds good. Thanks!

I lived in Lafayette last year and loved it. I was in a low cost suite and we had more than enough room. The hardwood floors are nice and so is the kitchen area. We were lucky to not have any of those weird cut-outs in the wall. But seriously, I loved my room - high ceilings, two bathrooms, a kickass air-conditioner… just be prepared to use the ridiculously over-priced washers/dryers

As far as the location, I walked to class most days. It’s about a 20 minute walk, and you literally just have to walk up Lafayette St. to get to class - it’s great. The busses are available too but they’re not really necessary. Also, the 6 train is right on the corner of Canal and Lafayette which is great if you wake up late and need to rush to class. Since it’s right by Canal Street, practically all the subway lines have a near-by stop - it’s really convenient.

The area can be really noisy and polluted, and there are always a bunch of tourists and vendors around. There’s also a 24 hr. Duane Reade close by which comes in handy. Nightlife is great and shopping is amazing I loved Laf and I hope you do too!
