Please help! DD has been accepted to both and has received equal scholarships to both. She has visited both and likes both.
Which school has a better reputation? name recognition? study abroad opportunities? etc…Any opinions about these 2 schools would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations to your DD. What is her expected major? Our D is heading to Allegheny on Sunday 3/11/12 for an overnight & will attend 2 Bio classes the following day. Allegheny is noted for it’s pre-health (pre-med, pre-vet, etc.) programs as well as it’s political science dept. Good Luck !

I really can’t speak to Wooster except that I know it has a great reputation. Both schools are are included in the “Colleges That Change Lives” group, and I like what these schools have to offer. My daughter is very interested in Allegheny, still no final decision yet. She did not look at Wooster, only because she had looked at enough schools that she felt she had an adequate selection. Keep us posted on the process.

YellowJacket76, I am looking forward to hearing about your daughter’s experience this weekend.

Thank you both for your messages. YJ76, my D visited the weekend of Feb. 24/25 and we had a great time. Allegheny put on an amazing weekend, very organized and informative, and she loved it! I think staying overnight is key to helping them make a decision. We have not yet done that with Wooster yet. It’s a 9 hour drive from where we live so it gets to be a little harder to work that in. But that might be what she needs to make that final decision! She really isn’t sure of what she wants to major in. Either way, I don’t think anyone can go wrong with either school.

I also got into Wooster! I really love both schools, but if I had to pick, I’d go with Wooster. It’s one of my top three choices, as is Clark University. Financial aid will be the determining factor. You really cannot go wrong with either school. I will say that I’ve gotten a sense that Allegheny is more rural, but I have yet to visit, so don’t take my word on that.
