Please help! DD was accepted to both Allegheny and Wooster and has received equal scholarships to both schools. I am interested to know which school is considered better, has a stronger reputation, name recognition, etc....We have visited both.

I have good friends with a degree from each. We are considering Wooster so I just talked with him quite a bit about the school. My impression (I teach at a university)…

Wooster has better name recognition throughout the east and midwest with a decent number of grads in Chicago. Students come from all over the midwest and northeast. Wooster has made a great name for itself in academic circles because of the senior IS. Lots of campus traditions. It is still on our list.

Alleghany is not nearly as well known (if at all) in the midwest. Most students come from Penn, Ohio, or NY. We looked at Alleghany but do not have it on the list.
