<p>Hey you guys I need to let you know that I have a back up plan. If I’m not admitted to any unis in USA, I’ll attend one in New Zealand (my country of citizenship). I have a scholarship to attend university here so I’m all set!</p>

<p>That’s great. If you’d be happy to attend that school and cost is not a problem, then you can afford to apply to US schools more selectively and take more risks. But you may be wasting your time on some schools if you do not qualify for need-based aid, they do not offer merit aid to internationals, and you cannot cover the Expected Family Contribution.</p>

<p>I hope to take out a loan with either the university or a family member if worst comes to worst.</p>

<p>A possible problem: </p>

<p>You could be rejected by need-aware schools because you checked the Need Financial Aid box, but if you didn’t you might be accepted.</p>

<p>hmm the only need aware school to which I applied was Stanford. The other four are needblind, so no biggie</p>
