<p>Opportunity to win $10,000 scholarship and meet Dr. Maya Angelou</p>

<p>Contestants are required to submit a 750–1,000 word essay that considers the quote and reflection statement below and answers the following question: </p>

<p>The horizon leans forward, offering you space to place new steps of change.

<p>The election of our country’s first African-American president is proof that the dream of change can become a reality. As a people, we’ve shown what we can do when called upon for change. How are you being called to build upon this new spirit of change?</p>

<p>Contestants must be 17 years of age or older, and a legal resident and citizen of the 50 United States (includes the District of Columbia). Contestants must be either a high school senior who has been accepted to or a current, full-time student in good standing at one of the participating colleges or universities.</p>
