Almost 4 HOURS of testing!!!

For those who have taken the SAT many times, how have you managed to stand through it all? I don't mean just get by and get it over with, I mean keep as vigilant, alert, energetic and focused as you could be at the beginning for the entire 3.75 hours? Any non-drug methods?

lol it's really not that bad... i've only taken it once

I haven't taken it officially, but I wouldn't think it would be too difficult because each section is 25 minutes or less. Just stretch a little between each section and maybe take some gum or peppermints. I doubt it's any different than taking final exams at school, which isn't difficult at all (for me anyway).

I just remember that students in lots of other countries have two or three whole days of testing to determine who gets into college.

Actually, the 4 hours goes by really quickly...yet again I always get super jacked up on Monster Energy...but that's just me...lol

It goes by quickly if the test is easy but it goes by forever, if its really hard.

^ i've always felt that hard tests go by faster because you feel like you need more time to finish

^ agreed. From someone who's taken the SAT twice and multple SATII's, I could never see myself genuinely bored during these tests (AP's are a different story), because I actually care about my score so I'm either using all my time or checking my answers.

sleep is my drug

Four hours aren't that bad. Those 25 minute sections (which I find kind of annnoying, by the way - I think the test should be structured into one hour of one subject, then another hour of another subject...so on.) force you to be constantly alert and "on your feet."

I find chewing gum and getting plenty of green tea (I hate coffee, bleh) in the morning helps. That and getting sufficient amount of sleep =p But don't sleep so much that you become sluggish - aim for that perfect adrenaline rush.

AP exams ARE a whole different story...I've fallen asleep once on the Essay portion of APUSH just because the test is so long...but yeah, that's off the subject.

haha yeah AP exams are BORING. during the AP chem exam this year, I finished the multiple choice in 50 minutes and then took a nap. i got a 5 by the way...

I sat through the exam thrice (and cancelled twice), and it's not bad at all.

Yeah it goes by soooo fast, you really get lost in the test it only seems like an hour

Thanks for all the great advice. I guess it wont seem that long, and I agree, i hour a subject would be nice. I also read somewhere that some regular, light cardio exercise a few weeks before the test is a good idea.

akahmed: PM NotAmbidextrous (w/ my reference!)............and ask him the same question! Trust me u MUST get a really good answer!

he has got THE experience! (lol!)
