ALO Interview Coming Up

I have my ALO interview scheduled for the 25th.

Anyone have any advice? I’m going to get a nice suit and get my haircut. And of course read up on the latest Afghan news.

Be yourself… show that you are excited, as I am sure you are. Don’t be modest, but don’t be cocky.

Again, just be yourself.

P.S. Show up early, at least 5 minutes.

Thanks. I will definitely show up early.

I enjoy being myself, but since it’s a “formal” interview, I don’t want to come off too casual.
I’m afraid that if I am too much like myself (I talk to everyone like they’re my friend), I won’t seem professional.

Is humor OK to use at the right time or should I stay “all-business”?

I’m sure you’ll be able to feel out the situation and judge what’s appropriate.
I, like you, talk to everyone “like they’re my friend,” however my ALO didn’t seem to have much of a sense of humor, and that was quite apparent. I acted accordingly. You know what I’m saying.

No one wants a robot to lead them and their sons/daughters. Just my thought.

Follow his/her lead. If they want to be all professional than you should be too. If they are casual, than be casual. IMHO most are laid back, they understand your fear and apprehension. It will be just fine.

Thanks everyone. I needed the boost of confidence.
