I know there's a rule that says someone has to be with your car when you are checking in and you only get 5-10 mins to unload but do they make exceptions to that if you are going to be completely by yourself on move in day?

Also is it normal to see people, freshmen in particular, without their parents on move in day like I will be?

Yes! It’s normal! I did my move in all by myself since my freshmen fall. As for the car, i wouldn’t worry too much since its very hard to police that. Just make sure you are parked in a parking space and you’ll be fine.

Happy Move In!

As for parking - It probably depends what dorm you’re moving in to how strict they will be about parking. When our daughter moved in to Jennings we were able to park the car in the lot next to the dorm and unload as we needed to. We weren’t rushed, but knew we needed to move the car when it was unloaded to allow others a space. We probably were parked about an hour. It seemed they were pretty relaxed about parking that day knowing that there were a lot of people that didn’t know what they were doing! It was also pouring down rain the day my daughter moved in, so that was an experience.

Dont worry just look for the students in orange t shirts GatorAiders. They will help you out.

You will not be alone many students have to go alone.
