Aloof?

I just visited UW's campus the other day, and I really liked it, for the most part. But one thing I noticed that struck me as being kind of odd is that people seemed sort of....anti-social. People weren't joking and laughing with friends, but rather, seemed to be quietly keeping to themselves.

However, I don't want to judge too quickly (after all, it was morning and a school day).

Thoughts? Experiences? Are things more lively at night?

I was there Thursday, and it looked like a typical college campus to me: friends in two's and three's chatting with each other, or people walking alone listening to their ipods. Everyone, for the most part, looked happy/content.

I had an experience to world changer. In the morning everyone seemed a little down - walking alone, looking serious. But everyone I talked to was very friendly. Maybe because it was a rainy day? Well, there's lots of rainy days in Seattle.

i also visited last weekend till this tuesday. I luved the campus but the rain.....i don't know if i am ready for that much of rain.

My daughter said that most people are struggling now with this very unusual stretch of weather we are having. I wouldn't take a visit during the last week or two as any measure of how things usually are with students. Normally in April, the Cherry trees are flowering in the Quad and people are out socializing much more. I noticed that everywhere people are holed up waiting for the weather to break. This is unusual and record setting, even for here.

people are grumpy here

Seattle people are not the most outgoing. Many stick with their hs friends as everyone has at least 20 kids from their hs there.
