alot of questions about UCF

hi everyone ! i have some questions about UCF.

How does UCF award scholarship monies? I was hoping to receive some money when I got accepted and its been 4 months now. my gpa and test scores weren't terrible either. i have a 4.4 weighted gpa, took 5 ap classes and a 26 act

Also, can anyone tell me about the honors college at UCF and the perks of being in honors? i have also been invited to the LEAD program and was wondering about any information anyone may have about the programs.

moreover, since i have been admitted to UCF and USF, but i am still awaiting UF decision before i make final decisions about fall 200, how fast do dorms fill up at ucf? i have heard that there is a down payment of 250 dollars to reserve housing and if you dont choose to go to the school, you will loose all of the housing payment. is this true? should i apply for housing?

finally, i'm not totally sure what i want to major in. i really was hoping that ucf would have a chemical engineering program in their college of engineering, but to my disappointment, they do not. they also do not offer any pharmacy programs either, which is another major of intrest. is there any way i could still go to ucf and obtain a degree, or somehow transfer somewhere after two or four years?

thanks ! :]

in terms of housing..APPLY NOW!~!!

As for the scholarships, I would think you would've received the offer by now if they were sending one, and it's normally posted on Myucf. The Honors College is excellent at UCF, and I would highly recommend it if only for the early registration privileges. LEAD is also a great program, but if you can only do one do Honors. You should apply for housing; I believe their policy is they take 250 deposit but give 150 back if you decide not to go to UCF. As for them not having your program, that's something you should ask the department about.

I have a question: Is a meal plan mandatory if staying on-campus?

^^^
No, it is not. My S hasn't had a meal plan from the beginning, but he does live in the Towers where he has a full kitchen. He likes to cook, and it just works for him not to be tied to a meal plan. OP search "honors college" in the UCF forum. You'll find several threads discussing the perks of honors.

zebes

Meal plan is neither mandatory nor a good idea. It's just not worth the money, and I should know--I had it last year. You can buy meals a la carte for 8 bucks, which works really well since they're all you can eat.

One of my friends is planning on going into pharmacy stuff for grad school. He's getting his BA in Health Administration. I don't know if there are many undergrad pharmacy programs anyway anywhere in the country.

Anyway, both Honors and LEAD rock. LEAD will give you a chance to meet people and get ahead at UCF. You make SO many friends through it and get access to a lot of opportunities that other students don't get. Honors gets you options for smaller class sizes and great advising. You can easily be in both programs.

If they don't have any of your intended majors, I probably wouldn't consider attending.
