Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society

Has anyone joined or know anything about this? Is it worth joining?

I paid for it freshman year and put it on my resume for a little while. It looks good for a freshman since they typically don't have much to put on there. Since then, it's been bumped off my resume to make room for more important things and I haven't thought about it in a few years. To be honest, it's kind of a waste of money :)

I agree with the post above. Although it is something to put on your resume (it still is on mine), but that's about it.

The paper states the following

The current membership fee is $70. ...This is the only fee required for your lifetime membership.

Is $70 the total cost ever?

Alpha Lambda Delta is a freshman academic honorary. Members must have achieved a 3.5 GPA and also be in the top 20% of their class. Members are often more involved in the organization during their sophomore year. I have no idea if this an active group now on campus.

In some colleges Alpha Lambda Delta members who maintain the average may become eligible for future scholarships and awards.

In troubled economic times it does not hurt to have academic honoraries on a resume.
When I applied for my first position after college the person who interviewed me knew the names of the academic honoraries and commented on them.

One of my friends did not have the funds to pay for membership in a senior academic honorary and discussed it with the dean. The dean used some money from a discretionary fund to pay for the required fee.

What do students in Alpha Lambda Delta actually do when they are more involved in sophomore year?

Nester,
After checking this on Google other colleges apparently have much more active Alpha Lambda Delta groups than at SC.

I have never even heard of this? What is this?

it's an honor society for freshmen who get GPA of 3.5 and above. You pay a fee of $70 to join and there is a induction ceremony. Once you're in, you can also apply for scholarships that are available.

Alpha Lambda Delta - The University of Southern California

Will having a leadership position make it significantly more “worth it” or prestigious? like in terms of value to resume.

What is the difference between Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Societies?

phi sigma the 3.0 one, ALD is 3.5plus starting for freshmen. Im not sure if employers know the difference though so I guess its safer to just join both lol
