Any experiences with this honor society? Worth it?

wolfpiper I though you were leaving us? Welcome back!

I have no first had knowledge of this honor society. But most vary from campus to campus. It depends how active the members are and how much time the faculty advisor puts in.

If your university's chapter has a web site check it out to see how active they are. Meet with the faculty advisor to get his opinion.

In any case it is worth being inducted if for no other reason than to bolster your resume.

I was a member and I see no reason to turn it down. I think the dues were minimal. I don't recall my chapter doing much but maybe I just didn't participate.

I too was a member. I remember getting woken up early to go to initiation service. I don't recall any dues or future meetings.

congrats

i'm a member of this honor society (current college student)... but i'm not really active. basically, as with all college honor societies, it is only worth it if you decide you have enough time to add this onto your extracurricular activities.

i've paid my $60 dues and didn't get much out of it except a nice initiation ceremony that my parents got to attend. i do enjoy them pairing me up with a freshman to mentor though. some of my friends were more active and got to attend national leadership conferences to meet other ALD/PES (phi eta sigma, it's the sister freshman honors society) members and participate in community service activities.

on the other hand, i got invited for another honor society (NSCS) later that year, paid my $60 dues, and haven't been involved at all (they do have activities though, i just chose not to go), so that $60 was basically a waste since i dont even have space to put this in my resume.
