Hey guys, I'm a white male from Ohio. Shocking stuff, I know.

My UW GPA is a 3.84 in all honors courses. When I submitted my application I was ranked 10 out of 86 at a rather competitive public school.

I'm submitting two ACT scores. My highest composite was a 31, with a 34 in English, 29 in Math, 32 in Science, and 30 in Reading. Superscored I have a 32, because I had a 32 on Math from a different test date, I got an 8 on writing.

EC's:

4 years soccer (2 varsity)
Service trip to Costa Rica, 100+ volunteer hours partnered with presidential service award
Service trip in yellowstone national park
Volunteer at zoo
4 years interact club (help lower income students in our community)
4 years academic challenge
2 years MUN
NHS
Elected junior and senior class treasurer
Employed at local restaurant
Ski club
2 years orchestra

My essay was alright, it's well written but honestly, not the most compelling. I'm sure my recs were great though, asked brilliant teachers who really liked me.

I applied to:

Colgate University (Early Decision!)
UVA (EA)
UMich (EA)
Case Western (EA)
College of Wooster (EA)
Northeastern (EA)

Where do you think I'll get accepted, waitlisted, denied?

I don’t know much about Colgate, so I can’t comment on that. I think you’ll be accepted at Case Western, Wooster, and Northeastern. Not too sure about UVA. It could go either way for Michigan. Which school are you applying to there? Hopefully your essays made you stand out a little bit.

If interested iun Colgate, might check out Holy Cross great school 1 hour from Boston. Holy Cross also meets 100% demonstrated financial need. HC has nice campus and great alumni network.

UMich: Low Reach
UVA: Reach. UVA doesn’t like OOS applicants that don’t have perfect stats. Don’t worry about it too much, though.
Case Western: Match!
Wooster: Safety
Northeastern: Low Match

I see you are once again touting HC with “meets 100% demonstrated need”.

Care to opine and/or document the performance of the other schools’ financial aid? I mean, please, please shed some light on the applicant’s particular interests and needs, if you don’t mind. Otherwise, what’s the point?

good EC’s but did you achieve anything significant in each ? It’s still good to join but unless you achieved something on a state level at least it will not be a significant factor in choosing your colleges.

colgate - match
umich - match
uva- waitlist ?

Do you have any AP courses? your act seems pretty good so id say youre good for most of the schools except maybe uva. but you still have a good chance. GL!

You have a very good chance at being admitted to Colgate! At this point, I’d say just relax and wait for the results to come back. Nothing anyone says right now will make any difference aside from potentially stress you out even further haha. This is coming from someone else who is very nervous about his own early decision application.
