Ok, I got my admissions to College of Engineering a few days ago. This is my #1 school to go to, but it turns out the deadline for scholarships from the school has already ended, December 1! What gives; were you supposed to fill out the application for scholarship way before your admission letter?

It's gonna be 40,000 a year total for me (out of state), and I'll need some major money if I have any chance to go.. :(

Definitely apply for departmental scholarships for next year. Most departments have them (I know journalism does), and they're easier to get than university-wide scholarships.

Err no I don't think I'm a Scholar Finalist. I say 40,000 cause that includes everything like Room and Board, books, etc.

This sucks, and I don't think my parents are willing to pay first year, I might as well go to U of I (in state) which is 15,000 a year. So can I transfer to Austin after 1 year, and have applied for the scholarships by then, cause that would work out nice.

If I were you, I'd still send in an application I mean, it can't hurt you to try and I'm pretty sure the scholarship application was free. I think somewhere I read that is the "priority deadline" so just try.

Best of luck, I hope you end up going to UT!

It's just too much hassle and I doubt anything I get will put a dent into the tuition I have to pay. Bleh now I have to settle for U of I, which is similar, but it gets cold in the winter :( Thanks for the help though, have fun at UT.

Awww, I am sorry Cyrone :( Best of luck @ UI-Urbana-Champaign.

It's a great school :) I'm sure you will have a great college experience. And besides, with all this global warming it probably won't be THAT cold in the winter anymore. Hahaha.
