Alright alright...what college is going to help me get published?

I got accepted to a myriad of schools. Now it's decision time. My one and only concern with my schools is which school will help me get my foot in the door publishing fiction as well as connections with big publishing companies. I don't care about fit unless two schools are equal in their connections.

Note, I really don't care about the strength or the writing or English programs, only how far the school itself can get me in the publishing world. May be a bit shallow, but at least I'm honest.

So far I've been accepted to:
*Princeton
*Columbia
*Dartmouth
*Brown
*Stanford
*Vanderbilt
*Duke
*Amherst
*Williams
*Middlebury
*Pomona
*Claremont Mckenna
*UNC
*UVA

Waitlisted at:
*Washington University in ST Louis
*Yale

Not sure if it's any help, but also, my major is Physics and I'm low income.

I’d have to think that Middlebury - home to the Breadloaf Writers Conference and the New England Review - would have to have a leg up in introducing you to connected writers and publishers.

the choice is obvious:

Wow! You got into a lot of good schools! Pretty amazing! I know you are not asking, but any money issues? With a career in fiction, I would also recommend looking at schools that will leave you with the least debt. My D is also interested in “writing” and I’ve never seen anything to suggest a relationship between school and “getting published”.

P.S. She is at Duke, and we are full pay, and we definitely have $$ concerns.she will be doing “Duke In New York” this fall, and I hope it will connect her with good stuff.

Good question about whether much debt will be needed. You may be a starving writer when you graduate.

As for getting published…
hmmm…

I would look at the profs at each school and see if any have any publishing connections.
