Alright, I think I improved a little

<p>safety (I'm top 10%, so I'm in anyway) - University of Texas</p>

<p>Career Choice: Health/Medical Journalism, majoring in undergraduate journalism</p>

<p>Rank: Top 4%, or 51 out of around 1300 in a highly competitive high school</p>

<p>GPA: 4.108, weighted, and definitely expected to go up by next transcript</p>

<p>AP expected to have by end of high school:
AP Bio -4 on exam
AP English III- 4 on exam
AP English IIII
AP US HIST- 5 on exam
AP Spanish
AP Macroeconomics
AP Government
AP CAL AB</p>

<p>SAT (first one, taking again in October):
Math 780
Reading: 660
Writing: 700</p>

<p>SAT subject tests:
Biology-730
US History-770
Physics (I don't know what I was thinking)- 650</p>

<p>ACT- 31
Writing- 9 (yuck)</p>

<p>Strengths:
Essay Writing
2 years of high school art
Life experiences- traveled to several countries, lived in 3
Speak fluent Bengali, understand Swedish, hopefully Spanish eventually from school also
worked 30 hours a week in the summer
working around 18 hours a week during school year
Unpaid internship at local newspaper this semester
Small student article in community section of Dallas Morning News
I give amazing interviews (if I get the chance)</p>

<p>Weaknesses:
No offices held
No sports since middle school
Not many clubs</p>

<p>Volunteering:
NJHS and NHS- this will be my fifth year
Helping Coordinate major charity Walk over summer</p>

<p>I'd say you have a good shot at NYU. Your SAT and ACT scores are good, and so is your class rank and GPA.</p>

<p>Your ECs show your passions for jounralism, which will probably impact you in a positive manner.</p>

<p>Columbia's still a reach, though.</p>

<p>Thanks! Good to hear about NYU. But I think I'll have a hard time mentally letting go if it's not Columbia.</p>

<p>Oh, and I also forgot. I'm Bengali, but was born in and grew up in Sweden. Does this still lower my chances a little?</p>

<p>Can anybody offer for insight on Columbia? Specifically, where I could use the most improvement?</p>
