Alternate airport

I know LAX is closer to UCLA but as everyone knows, LAX has a heavy traffic, malfunctions, etc. Is Burbank the next closest one and is it more smooth sailing in terms of checking in and out, less delays, etc. What is travel time from your housing to the airport? Thanks

Burbank will have just as much traffic since the 405 is miserable everywhere between Downtown San Diego and The Valley and the 101 is just as bad. It would probably be a smoother process, though (although..at this point...I think that smooth is highly relative). Depending on traffic it'd take anywhere from 20 to 50 minutes to get from Burbank to UCLA.

I've traveled out of LAX numerous times and have yet to be delayed. If anything, it's the security that might cause the most delays, but even that isn't as bad as you might think. In fact, screening at LAX was faster than Orange County's John Wayne Airport for me. The 405 is miserable wherever you go, so unless you're getting some major deal flying into Burbank, I'd stick with LAX.

LAX has yet to be a bad place to land or depart for me, and I travel a lot

The Long Beach airport is really really nice... I would highly recommend it having just flown in/out of it this week. From there you take the 405 to the 110 to the 10 and can exit before the 405. It's probably a little farther than Burbank, though.

I live in Long Beach, the Long Beach aiport is great if you can take Jet Blue from where you are (not really much of a choice, Jet Blue is one of two airlines you can take from there). It's not too busy at all, and it'll take you anywhere from half an hour to an hour depending on traffic to get to campus.

That being said, I really haven't had too many problems at LAX.

no major problems for me at LAX either. long beach and burbank ar farther away, so even if you can get in and out of the airport faster, you will lose more than the time you saved at the airport sitting in LA traffic for the longer freeway trip.

One would think that security would be as LAX as the airport's name suggests...

Nice one...

terrible...just terrible. lol
