I applied to NYU with the Shanghai campus as my first choice and the New York campus as my second choice. In my supplement, I expressed interest in each of the campuses.

I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences, but also indicated that I would be open to the Liberal Studies Program.

How does "second choice" campus and school work? So the admissions officers are sitting in their office reading my file and they say, "Well we can't admit her to Shanghai." Since New York is my second choice, do they say, "Well, let's see if we'd like to admit her to the New York campus."? Or do they just have the second choice campus there as...just having it there? How seriously do they take into account my second choice?

Same with the schools - if they want to reject me from CAS, do they seriously consider putting me in LSP before rejecting me altogether?
