Alternate Campuses

Anyone have any advice on which branch campuses are the best to apply to? I'm a transfer applicant but I'll be a sophomore in the fall and still am not eligible for University Park yet. I don't mind a medium sized school I just don't want to be in the middle of nowhere. Thoughts?

People seem to shoot for Altoona from my area since it is closest to State College. However, I know of a student who mentioned the Erie campus (we are from outside Philly) since she is on crew at her school and Erie has a Water Polo team. So it depends also what your interests are and how they can be matched.

i've heard that the erie campus (behrend) is nicer than the others, but altoona is so close. so if you can hitch a ride, you can be at UP every weekend or for football games. but i heard for 2009 they aren't selling tickets to branch campuses. who knows though? people there have said that soo many people come up from altoona every weekend. they basically go there

Consider Lehigh Valley campus in Fogelsville, if you can afford an apartment because there are no dorms. The LV campus is set on the top of a hill surrounded by big expensive homes. It's a very nice area, zero crime, and only about 750 students. It's only about 12 miles from a huge enclosed mall and shopping area with lots of restaurants. North Bethlehem is another 8-9 miles away. Very nice area, kinda yuppiefied with outstanding restaurants, street music festivals, you name it. Just stay out of south Bethlehem (LOL).

Muhlenberg College is about 15 minutes away; Moravian College 25 minutes; and Lehigh University 30 minutes away.

My D1 is in her second year at LV campus and likes it so much she refuses to move to UP in September. She changed her major to make it possible to finish her four-year degree and avoid UP.

Despite the absence of dorms, the Lehigh Valley campus actually has some international students. Go figure.
