Hey guys, I just got a letter from the Univ. of Rochester telling me I pretty much got waitlisted.... but then, it also had an option on the bottom stating that I could "welcome an invitation to begin at Rochester in Spring 2008 semester".... what does that mean??? does that mean I got accepted to Spring 2008 but not Fall 2007 unless I get accepted through waitlist... or does that mean I didnt even get admitted to both. im lost. HELP!

it means that they are offering you a spot on the 2008 semester. It's like a deferred enrollment except longer. I got a defferred enrollment that allowed me to enter jan. 2008, so only after 1 semester, different from your sping 2008 option.

Isn't the Spring Semester in Jan.?

I know someone who got this same letter...hehe I probably got one also - or maybe even a rejection.

ohhh icic. Thanks for the help guys! And solsek- dont say that!! I bet u got in if not waitlisted or deferred :).... I applied 3 weeks after the deadline w/ no teacher rec. and got deferred, so imagine how much hope u have if u did everything AND turned it in on time :) dont lose hope

Yes, spring 2008 and Jan. 2008 are the same session.

Anna, where are you from and when did you get your letter? I'm from MA and kinda hoping for that letter because the alternative probably is a straight waiting list or rejection.

or rejection? I dont think the alternate list is a rejection.... wait what!? im so confused and paranoid now... did I misunderstand your question?

or rejection? I dont think the alternate list is a rejection.... wait what!? im so confused and paranoid now... did I misunderstand your statement?

I don't think the alternate list is a rejection. I am hoping I get one because I suspect that all the regular acceptances have already been mailed.

annakimwta, he said "alternative" , not "alternate"

I'm in SoCal and I got my spring admittance letter.

Yeah...nothing to worry about...you can choose to matriculate into UR in January(spring semester)...you basically go to whatever other college you want for 1 semester and transfer over to UR...I know quite a few people who did that...If you want to come to UR, def take that...

has anyone found out anything from rochester about their status on the waitlist?!
