alternate major

do they actually look at alternate major?

or are there people that ACTUALLY get in for their alternate major?

In 2013 my cousin didn’t get into her first choice, nursing, so she was accepted into her second choice, public health! So it does happen.

I applied with business administration as my first major, but I know it’s super competitive. I’m hoping to be considered for my alternate, psychology and social behavior, if I don’t get into my first choice!

yeah, i’m really scared. i applied for pharmaceutical sciences, because i didn’t know choosing a major can really screw your chances of acceptance, so just for safety, i put undeclared as my alternate.

@obeymei‌ In another thread, @BigSean‌ said that ‘undeclared major’ is actually one of the most competitive ones.

I applied to BA and my alternate major is undeclared. :-S

Alternate major, as far as I understand, works for ppl who are overly “qualified” for the alternate that they state. Like for example if you picked BA for your primary and psychology for your alternate, if the admissions believe that ur better suited for psych then they will put you in that major because maybe you have the sat/gpa/ec for psych but just not enough for chem
