Alternate Major

Hey I know this is kind of late, but I just came to the conclusion that I would rather major in what I put in as my "alternate major" for some of the schools I applied to. In particular UCD. I applied under Poli Sci with my alt. as Sociology, but now I've realized that I would rather major in Soc. Do think they'll just base me off my first choice without looking at my qualifications for my alt? I have better grades for the prerequisites for my alt. major too. I don't know what I was thinking.

too late young skywalker... slight chance you might be able to switch once you get accepted... but unlikely.

if you've already completed the pre reqs for sociology i don't think it'd be too hard to switch once you got in since sociology isn't impacted.

Yeah do you guys think I could get accepted for my alternate major instead of the one I originally applied for? I mean do they ever deny people for one major but accept them for another?

UCSD: UCSD may offer students admission into an alternate major if they do not meet selection criteria for a first-choice major. Applicants to engineering majors in the Jacobs School of Engineering must meet major-preparation and grade requirements to be admitted. If they do not, an alternate non-engineering major will be assigned.
UCSB: An applicant may be considered for admission to an alternate major if a valid alternate
major is indicated on the application. Such decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
UCSC: Applicants applying to majors in the Baskin School of Engineering should indicate an alternate major on the application.

for ucd you prob will be able to...

what if you were admitted to your alternate major instead of your first choice...would it be possible to switch/ apply again to your first major after getting admitted?

can you still get into uci if you don't get into ur major or alternate major but they think your qualified for the school...can you can provisional admission and chose another major?
