I have heard a lot of talk about alternative education, and a few names are coming up a lot...Colorado College, Evergreen State, New College of Florida
etc. Any other schools come to mind?

I am very interested in Evergreen State because of the price, ability to get in, and progressive curriculum--
Does anybody know of anything similar?

a college also with a block schedule is cornell college in mount vernon, iowa. other "alternative" schools could be warren wilson, unc asheville, bard, hampshire, reed, bennington, marlboro, the johnston program at university of redlands. ummmm. there are a few others. the list i just popped out has some privates and publics, varying levels of admission selectivity. hope this helped. good luck!

College of the Atlantic

If you're into the environment, check out unity College in Maine.

Thanks guys, very helpful. Does anyone have any experience on block scheduling - how it worked out for them?

I don't have any real experience with block scheduling, but my college did offer a mini-mester right after the spring semester: 1 class, about 4 hours a day, for about 3 weeks--so, similar to what a block would be. I took 2 of these (not in the same year, of course.)

What I loved: Being able to focus on ONE thing, and cramming all that information into my head in a short period of time really helped me master the material.
What isn't so good: If you miss one class, it's the equivalent of missing several days of a non-block class.
