@mbvloveless

Aight thanks I’ll get on that

And hmm lessee I think it’s from the EP snow…not any of the albums

and Vanilla Acoustic:

I just made a last.fm so it’s pretty sparse. I’ll PM you my link/add you. I don’t really want to be indexed by Google.

@MBV: I love Burial! I can’t wait for the new EP on Decemeber 16. Also, while I don’t quite like Deerhunter as much as AnCo, I still thoroughly enjoy them (especially Halcyon Digest). I do have a last.fm; I’ll PM you.

You should give the BoC record more time; I didn’t really enjoy it until my fourth or fifth listen, and now I love it.

How’d you like Darkside?

Darkside is making me feel uneasy…I don’t know if my overall impression is positive or not!

It seems to be a pretty polarizing album… I love it, though. Especially Golden Arrow and Paper Trails.

Oh, and whoever asked about rap, absolutely! Two rap albums are in my top 10 this year, and Kendrick Lamar’s GKMC topped my list last year.

Do these rap albums mentioned above qualify as alt/indie (only asking because I seriously don’t know)?

Some korean rap:

Tell me what you guys think.

Edit: These couple are pretty underground korean acts but as far as this thread is concerned, pretty mainstream korean rap and indie should be esoteric enough.

Sorry to barge in on the conversation, but I love Korean music too! (partly because I’m Korean…)

You guys should check out Lyn. She’s pretty R&B, but has been releasing a few pop songs lately (but not bubblegum pop though).

Some good Lyn songs:

<a href=“A-Live]린(Lyn)- 사랑했잖아 + 사랑했잖아 part2.. - YouTube”>A-Live]린(Lyn)- 사랑했잖아 + 사랑했잖아 part2.. - YouTube;
<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

I also like 10cm, Jang Kiha and the Faces, Urban Zakapa, and Davichi. Davichi isn’t indie at all and sings mostly ballads, but I like their songs Missing You Today and Be Warmed (feat. Verbal Jint).

@CHD: That’s always a tricky question (at least for me). Technically, independent just means released on an independent label, but I’m too lazy to research whether every album’s label is independent or not. Of the three I listed, however, I’m pretty sure Chance is indie, and the other two are not. But as I said earlier, you don’t have to strictly like indie music to participate in this thread (because that would be pretty silly).

On the other hand, I didn’t intend this thread to be filled with K-pop and the like. Basically, if you could find the artist at an American music festival (Coachella, Lolla, Firefly, Bonnaroo, etc.), then it belongs in this thread. I’m not trying to be a forum nazi or anything; I just want the thread to stay on task. If I recall, there’s a separate Korean music thread, anyway (and if not, make one!).

I haven’t posted any “pop” in this thread.

However, I do agree with your general sentiment and will try to keep this American/British/English speaking.

Have any of you guys heard of Deerhoof? If you have, what do you think of them? I both greatly love and deeply despise them (depending on the song).

Ya I think I listened to that noisy album with the umbrella on the cover.

@MutaRISC: “and the like,” but thanks for understanding.

@Angrybob: I’ve been meaning to check Deerhoof out! What album of theirs do you recommend to start out with?

My two favorite albums of theirs are Deerhoof Vs. Evil and Breakup Songs. My favorite song of theirs is “There’s That Grin.”

Owen Campbell. Beautiful blues rock. He has one of the best blues voices ever, and he does some amazing things with a slide guitar.

Favorite song by him: [Mountain Home](<a href=“Owen Campbell - A Mountain Home - YouTube”>Owen Campbell - A Mountain Home - YouTube)

has anyone heard of sleeping at last? his songs are so beautiful
