Alternative Majors

I've searched this a few times on the forums, but I felt like I should post something that specifically applies to me.

I am in my second semester of my first year at CCC. I'm will be TAP certified and I'm thinking of applying to UCSD, UCLA, UCB. I want to major in poli sci, but I noticed that I can choose an alternative major. Since I'm going to be TAP certified, I know the schools will look at my alt. major if I don't get into my first. So I was wondering, what would be a good alternative major to poli sci?

I was originally going to put Economics, but that is impacted and I don't think I can finish all of the math requirements before I finish my second year. I hadn't considered economics before, otherwise I would've started sooner. I took PSY 161 (Statistics for Psychology majors) instead of a regular math class. Since its my second semester, and I haven't even completed Calculus 1,2, and Multivariable Calculus I shouldn't even try right? Or would it be worth it to stay an extra year? I was kind of hoping to double major in poli sci/econ too, so keep that in mind.

Anyone want to help me out? If you could list out some alternative majors or comment on my economics situation, I would be so grateful. Seriously big thanks!

Other things to note, just in case they are important...
- I have a 4.0 GPA currently, planning to keep it! Aha.
- I had ELC as a high school senior
- I've completed the IGETC
- Will be doing summer classes
- Currently have an internship at an investment firm
- Once its finished, I'm going to apply for internships to my state reps.

You CAN NOT choose an impacted major at your alt major. It will be disregarded.

If I were you I’d choose a major that you can complete all pre-reqs. I suggest Anthropology or Philosophy.

I’m a pre-political science major at UCLA and also enrolled in the TAP program. As SMCguy stated, you cannot choose an impacted major as your alternative. I personally chose philosophy and in fact, plan on double majoring with it. If you plan on concentrating on political theory, then there is a lot of overlap with that and political philosophy. Good luck!
