Nelle congratulations!! Oxford is such an amazing school and I am soooo happy that you were accepted.

whoamg - are u kidding? I will do as well if I go to a community college? Thanks for the encouragement that I'll do great in life :), but perhaps Oxford might give me a step up. And I think it might just be worth the money/loans.

gothicarlove - I sent in an open application, and it got forwarded to St. Peter's. Today I got an e-mail saying that St. Peter's does not have a place for me... but that Somerville does! And I like Somerville even more.

j07 - Thanks!!!

Oh okay, I sent in an open application as well. That means if St Hilda's cannot accept me, I'll probably be forwared to another college? That sounds great!

good luck! let us know how it turns out!

nelle- I read the same article as whoamg did, and what he is saying is true (at least according to the study). of course, with your amazingness you wouldn't go to a community college--you could get a full ride to a state university, or go to an upper tier school with a large scholarship. I'm going to have to agree with whoamg's suggestion to decline Oxford's offer with 0 aid, although love really does come before anything else, and if you love the school that much, go for it! ;) and congratulations!

congrats nelle!!

I'm of the opinion that few schools are worth the money. Besides Princeton, Harvard, and a select others, I would never even think of taking out loans for college. I can go to a state school and get a full scholarship. It really does not matter where you go to college. Bright guys and gals like us will get ahead in life one way or another. :)

Yeah, honestly it doesn't matter where you get your education.
As lame as it sounds, it's how you use it.
Though I often complain about it, I'll probably get a very good education if I go to UT Austin.
Not drastically different than that of a top tier school.

Yay More people come to Columbia! =)

princeton (deferred)
northwestern
harvard
rice
columbia
..and already accepted at UT Austin

hey me tooooo
well not yet
but i will be soon

Hey i didn't apply to Harvard, Stanford, or Columbia (in response to a way earlier thread).

Yeah RICE clen!!!
Rice is awesome.
It's so sad.
I've lived like 40 minutes away from Houston for the past 12 years, and I've never really even been to Houston to just hang out and have fun until this year.
I always thought it was a boring city, but it is amazing there.
And now that it's time to leave home, I finally realize how much I love it here.
::sniffle::

I think I might add Yale to my list. However, question. I've heard that the Ivy Leagues (perhaps esp./only HPY) communicate with each other so that they don't double accept (except on rare occasions and for URMs). Thus, chances of getting into one Ivy increase with each Ivy League you apply to, but the chances of getting into a particular Ivy League actually decrease with each application. Thus, under that logic, applying to Yale decreases my chances of getting into Princeton. And, if it came down to Yale or Princeton, I'd go for Princeton hands down. Has anyone else heard about this "agreement" (for lack of a better word)? If you haven't, do you think it's plausible? I don't want to apply to Yale if it means a smaller chance of getting into Princeton.

I have never heard of such a thing...

Rice is an AWESOME school, miss zanna. I visited Houston this summer and was treated to a private tour of the school by the Dean of the Engineering school. Amazing... I was really impressed, it was, hands down, my Duke alternative.

Hello everyone, Ive been reading the threads since the beginning of my love affair with Princeton but have never posted. BTW you guys are awesome. Anyway, I live in VA, and was to my chagrin DEFERRED. Was also a Questbridge finalist, and only ranked Princeton. Have done no other apps yet :) will be working all break......

Applying to (in no particular order of choice)

-Brown
-UPenn (dual degree program b/w Wharton and int. aff.)
-William & Mary (my only instate school)
-Yale
-Harvard
-U of Chicago
-Columbia
-Georgetown

may apply to . b/c I dont have to pay their app fees .

Williams, Amherst, Wellesley, Swarthmore, Oberlin

Peace.

In response to jon314, my sister, who goes Yale, did tell me that the Ivies have that sort of communication b/w each other . out of the ivies, she got into Cornell and Yale but denied to P-ton and Harvard, does it mean anything that only one school out of the HYP triangle admitted her, Dont know, but she told me a story similar to yours way before she even knew were she had been admitted to. Conspiracy. Conspiracy. ;)

Nah, girl last year got in EVERYWHERE. HYPSM. People think there is a conspiracy, but in all honesty, if someone is really good, each school will want that student. Your average HYP goer will only get into one because the chances are so low, or they got into Princeton ED :)

^ And since I already did not get into Princeton ED, it must mean that I have no hope at any of the Ivies. My, what bright prospects...! =p
