alternative to an econ PhD

I like economics, and while I'm not bad at math, the stories i read on forums make it scary. I still don't think it's not unbearable, because some of my professors don't like math. But then again, the system has changed with more emphasis on math.

I still want to do research and write papers, so what are my options?

My friend suggested economy sociology, don't know what that is, but it sounds fun.

judging by the fact that you don’t know what sociology is, I assume you aren’t in college yet. You have nearly a decade before you have to decide what you wan’t to do for your PHD. Go get an undergrad and a masters, and come back here if you’re still confused.

^ The OP has an undergraduate degree in economics.
