I wanted to study abroad but then I realized that I would need to take an extra year of school to do that since my courses are so scheduled in my major and they are only offered once a year. I was thinking that this summer would be the perfect opportunity to travel around Europe. I just have no idea how I would go about doing that and I have no one who wants to spend the money and go with me. Any suggestions?? Good tours??

You don’t need tours or study abroad or any of that nonsense. Just get a few thousand dollars together, and book a flight to Paris. You might want to book a youth hostel for the first night. Do not book anything else. You’ll meet loads of other people (mostly from English-speaking countries that are not the USA), and make friends and go to places. Then you’ll decide where to go next and get on a train.

This is not hard. This is what hundreds of thousands of Australian/British/etc kids do aged 18 before going to college every year.

WWOOFing is pretty popular way to travel. I have a friend who spent a summer in France that way, first working at an organic farm and then working in a bakery. [WWOOF - World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms](http://www.wwoof.org/)

Also, if you’re fairly comfortable with strangers, look into couchsurfing. [CouchSurfing – The world’s largest travel community](http://www.couchsurfing.org/)
