Altman Program in Internation Study and Business

yourloveisasong: You’ve already been notified? I was at the Honors Weekend on Sunday and Monday and Prof. Love said they aren’t announcing results until this coming Monday…
Congrats on your acceptance, though!

My son received word yesterday that he was not accepted into Altman. There were 125 applicants for the 15 spots. He wasn’t too disappointed as he applied last minute after learning of the program at Destination Tulane. His focus is more International Relations/French but the business portion was of some interest to him. He can throw some of that in with his advisor’s assistance.

Absolutely, ExeterMama. While I doubt that all aspects of the Altman program can be replicated from outside the program, I think there is no question that a lot of it can be. He also might want to look into the Business Minor Summer Institute.

[Business Minor Summer Institute](http://www.freeman.tulane.edu/students/bsm/summer-minor.php)

We read up on the summer institute while we were there in March. It’s a definite possibility!

May I ask how the two of you were notified of your acceptance and non-acceptance? Is it via email, US Mail, or the Tulane portal?

Pretty curious why they have not notified everyone at the same time. My daughter was told today by Professor Love via email, that they will be sending out email notificaitons by the middle of next week (I guess Wed April 17 is the middle ;-).

Did the two of you who posted, interview early? My daughter learned about this great program via our Honors weekend March 10th and applied by the March 15 deadline.

Good luck while we all await our final application decisions.

If someone is double majoring in business and something else, can they take the summer business minor program and use these classes toward a business major? My daughter isn’t even in school yet and I know that 80% of students change their major anyway but I was just wondering…

I don’t see why not. Summer school classes taken at other accredited universities can be used for credit up to a certain amount, and since these are actually at Tulane I would think they would count like any other course. They appear to have the same course numbers as those listed for the regular semesters, so I would think the content would be the same also, just compressed into fewer weeks like most summer courses. Of course the school itself can let her know when she gets to campus. The business school is right across from the LBC and I have found everyone there to be very friendly and helpful.

My son received word via email on 4/11. He didn’t get a chance to interview.

Sorry to hear that ExeterMama. I hope he wasn’t too disappointed.

He was fine, FC. We found out about it after the deadline, so he didn’t have much time to prepare his application or reach out to talk to anyone.

Oh wait… just got in!
Have you deciding if you’re attending or not, yourloveisasong?

Oops, *decided
