Alto up-tempo audition songs

I am a senior now with a range from a low F to high B and I'm also a belter. I'm having a hard time finding good up-tempo song. Can you list some for me to check out?

You’re probably hoping someone will give you a long list of great audition songs that will work for you. But that would be very difficult, because we don’t know you and have never heard your voice. For example, what is your belt range and vocal type? What do you look like – what type are you? What song sources have you already searched?

If you are interested in pursuing MT as a career, putting together a repertoire book is something that you will need to spend a great deal of time on. The first thing you should do is get familiar with as many musicals as possible – and not just the ones that have been on Broadway in the last few years. There are so many good uptempo songs out there! Start building your collection of original cast recordings. Take a look at sheet music – you can purchase many excellent collections of songs that may give you some good ideas. And if you really can’t make that financial investment, start browsing through YouTube clips. Last but not least, take the time to do a search of the threads on this forum. This particular subject has already been discussed many times. Good luck!

@Actrase: Great advice from onstage.

As has been noted many times on this forum: “The New Broadway Song Companion: An Annotated Guide to Musical Theatre Literature by Voice Type and Song Style” by David P. DeVenney is great resource for any aspiring MT’er. It can be used to readily answer your question. The book has lists by voice type and song type of literally hundreds of songs (typically 600-700 per voice type) and the range of each piece is included in the book. This book can save you many hours of effort (many, many hours) in researching songs.

Thanks EMSDAD for that great book idea!!

Thanks for the advice, and @onstage I realize that. I’ve looked in many books and just general browsing. I would just like a long list of songs to look at, I don’t expect most of them to work but there might be a diamond in the rough out there. :)
