Can somebody compare the Aggie alum network with the UT Austin Texas Exes network in terms of size, loyalty, strength within texas and outside etc.
Specially interested in Engineering if that matters.

As a UT engineering graduate, I can tell you the network is very strong. What’s really important is that you do well in school. If you do, your profs will let their former students know, and you’ll quickly get job interviews. There are Texas Exes all over the world. When we were in London, we found the group online and watched a Texas football game with them at a BBQ joint across the street from the Tower of London.
You will have wonderful opportunities whether you go to Texas or A&M. What’s more important than the alumni network is which school you feel is the best fit for you.
Based on your experience, Is there a profile of a typical student who is generally a better fit for UT Austin vs somebody who is a better fit for A&M, assuming the student can be successful academically in both schools?
@darth1289
First, both are great schools and have about the same student population, over 50,000. UT Austin is a large school in a large city. The school itself, acres wise, is not as large as A&M. The city of Austin is liberal by Texas standards and that does rub off on the university.
A&M is in a typical college town in more rural Texas. It does have a more conservative and country vibe to it but they seem to do a good job at inclusion. I have known many students from the Austin area that have gone to A&M who I did not know if they would fit in but they have all loved it with only 1 exception.
Maybe that is the true difference between these 2 schools - UT Austin is a diverse school in a diverse setting and the students, hopefully, find their niche. A&M, starting with fish camp, invites inclusion for all and creates die hard Aggies.
@GTAustin Any insights on how A&M might be for a Non Christian Asian compared to UT Austin in terms of inclusion and college experience?
IMO, I would think UT Austin would be a better match, again because of the diversity of the school itself and the city of Austin. That being said, I do think you would do fine at A&M but I think you would have expend more effort. If you are an extrovert and will join clubs, be open to meeting people that are different and partake in the Aggie traditions, you would do fine. If you are more of an introvert and like to hang with people with similar back grounds then UT Austin would be a better match. Another school you might want to consider is UT Dallas. It is a very diverse school and great programs in premed, STEM and business.
