So, I got an email from a Wellesley alumna congratulating me on getting into Wellesley and inviting me to a dinner.

Except I got nothing from the college itself. I wonder if it's a bad idea to consider it an acceptance? Is it even vaguely possible that I didn't get in but somehow an alumna thinks I did?

On that note but in the reverse manner, I just got an congradatory letter from the dean at nyu urging me to visit and meet her at freshman orientation. Im in college (a different one) and applied last year, you'ld think they would have recorded that.

Anyway I would say that is sure sign you are in but as with the whole college process you have to keep your emotions guarded just in case.

as much as a good sign as it seems, i was able to access my nyu email and student account but i haven't received a letter or any sort of confirmation and I honestly think there is no connection.

i really don't have any idea what to think until the letters arrive

Is there any comparison between being able to access a student account and have an Alumna who has no idea who you are and only knows who's accepted via a list directly from the school invite you to an "accepted students" dinner?

Hightops, I got the same thing. I applied as a freshmen last year to NYU and was accepted, and am now applying again as a transfer so when I got the letter I naturally was happy. I then called NYU to see about matriculation deposit, and other things and they said that it was a mess-up they accidentally sent out those letters to everyone they accepted last year when they meant to send them out to everyone they accepted this year. So now I have to wait till late April to see if I got in.
