I don't know how it is relative to others, but Barnard's is excellent. It's especially strong in NYC, where a large number of Barnard alumn live and work. Lots of alum-student connection programs and social events, and internships and job connections with alums, grants donated by alums, that sort of thing. Complete guessing here, but I'd venture to say that Barnard's alums are much more centralized near the college than the other schools. There are alumnae groups in other cities, but they're obviously a lot smaller than the NYC group, and the Boston, San Fran, etc. groups.

And yeah, definitely to the Columbia thing. I'd go to Columbia job fairs and networking parties without a thought if I needed a job, unless it specifically says it's for College alumni only. I think I'm gonna pass on membership to the Columbia club, though.

I'm a 70s alum who has been mentoring in the sophomore-alumnae mentor program the last two years. It's a great way to "give back" and also see what's going on with current Barnard students.

Ennie, my sister does the same thing! She must've graduated in the 80's/90's and she is a mentor to a really, really nice junior (?) at Barnard.
