I received a postcard about the Alumni Admission Council Interviews and in the postcard it says that these are to give RD applicants a chance to get some answers for any questions they may have about Northwestern and student life. Does anyone know if these are actually admission interviews or something different?

It is my understanding that these interviews provide information for both you and the school. The interviewer will provide feedback that will be included in your file, but interviews are optional and have the status of “considered” in the common data set.

If you can’t do one, I wouldn’ sweat it, but if possible, it seems like it could only help. My daughter is applying this year and she is doing one in our area.

Has anyone done these and have tips, such as how to act, how long they are, and what questions will be asked

The only thing that I have heard is to be able to have a conversation. It is my undertanding that the interviewers won’t have your application information. So, be personable and talk about what you want, what you are interested in, and have some questions to ask. It is a good opportunity to learn about general school life and other interests that aren’t included in the official school literature.

Thank you everyone! I emailed the representative for my area and she told me that it was for the application. Thank god that the director of the interview process in my area is a close friend of my school, maybe that will give me a leg up.
