Alumni contacting me... 2 times

I received a postcard in the mail from an alumni offering to answer any questions about UMich and I didn't reply because I knew all I needed to know from my own research and Alexandre's bleeding blue posts. My alumni contact then e-mailed me, so I asked her some questions to be polite, but I really knew most of it because Alexandre posts all you could need (chibears has useful information also).

My question: does this show that UMich is really interested in getting me as a student? They gave me a bland financial aid package with maximum loans + work study (like 70% loans + work study and 30% scholarship) and I was hoping to negotiate... do you think this gives me negotiating chips?

The alumni is acting on his own. He is not getting instruction from Michigan. So to answer your question, yes, Michigan is really interested in getting you...and all their students. However, that does not mean that University is going to give out scholarships! hehe Buit that doesn't mean you cannot call the financial aid office and negotiate...all I am saying is that the alum is acting independently from the University.

As always, thanks for the info Alexandre
