I also received an email to schedule a finalist interview

Congrats to all of you! My S was accepted into the honors program, given the Honors scholarship, Honors Grant, Professorial Asst and Study Abroad scholarship. He opted not to attend the ADS competition because it conflicted with other competitions on the same weekend. I think he received a lot from MSU regardless. He is a physics major. MSU has a lot of research resources but we’ve heard the surrounding Lansing area is dismal - unlike NYC or Chicago. Any insights?

Congrats, all.

I’m not sure what people are talking about with the single major. You can certainly get a double major within the 120 credits. Most people that double major do it in four years taking a normal courseload. I knew several people who were ADS and had dual majors- one even had a dual degree (BA and BFA).

Lansing is not NYC or Chicago but it’s not “dismal” either. I loved living next to Lansing as my main interests are in politics. I was certainly never bored.
