<p>Depends on how big the donation is. Development case, yes; modest donations, no.</p>
<p>And if you need to ask if you’re a “Development Case” then you’re not one.</p>
<p>Between my husband and I, we have attended four ivy league schools and our son is applying to them all. So we are legacy but would it help at all to become alumni members?</p>
<p>Legacy consideration will be given to your son to the extent of each school’s current policy regardless if you now become a donor. Unless you become a super-donor (7 or 8 figure donation), making lessor donations at this time will likely not be a boost at all. </p>
<p>My alma mater has the admissions dean look over every legacy applicant who doesn’t make the cut. He has the option to rescue or ask for re-consideration files he deems so. I’m only a small and occasional donor. If my kids eventually apply, they’ll get the minor “second look” that my school offers.</p>
