Alumni help at UCB?

Do alumni speaking to Deans of admission at UCB in one's favor do anything for them? Is such sway even possible? Thanks.

Perhaps, but very, very unlikely.

Haha. Having a zillion family members who attended makes no difference. I think they prefer people who are new to the system.

^I doubt that's true.

No, if you have parents who didn't attend college...it is noted on the application.

Yeah, but I'm saying family Berkeley members should help.

Well, my dad did his undergrad and grad school there. At UCSC, I have about 10 immediate family members. About 5 from UCLA. My dad is active on alumni committees and has heard that alumni can hurt.

UC's don't quite the work the way some other universities do. Legacy status is given minimal consideration at best, if at all.
