Alumni Interview for the University of Chicago?

I recently signed up for the interview, and the alumnus called me up and scheduled the meeting for tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous, because this is my first college interview, and also because the guy sounded a bit pompous/******y on the phone. Statistically I'm on the low end of stats (1330/1600 sat, 34 Reading 28 Math ACT, 30 overall score), so I think this interview could make or break me. Because of that, I would be eternally grateful if you guys could help out and give me some advice:

What should I wear? The guy said this was a non formal interview (it's at a Panera bread), but my college counselor says in general to always dress conservatively (a white shirt/tie, black pants)- PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

What questions should I prepare to ask or be asked? I've done a bit of research obviously, but is there any specific details I should prepare to have asked?

I have my resume and a portfolio (basically a visual resume with my certificates/some photos)- should I bring it?

Thank you guys so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate this :)

bump- please help

love how this thread has over 200 views yet not one person has responded- come on!

I probably wouldn’t wear a tie and “dressy” clothing. Wear “normal” clothes, but make sure they’re neat and “a step above” of a casual school day.

do you think a nice polo and some khaki slacks would be a good balance?

so how about a white shirt with khaki pants?

You’re stressing too much. If it’s at Panera, it is not going to be super formal. I had one at starbucks (not for UChicago though) and the guy showed up in jeans and a t-shirt, I was slightly more formal but not really. Don’t over think it, any of the options you’ve mentioned so far would be totally fine. Also, print out a list of questions and answer them, out loud, as if you were being asked. Good luck! :)

thanks a lot :)

Hey! When will you have your interview?

Mine will be this Saturday… won’t lie, kind of nervous…
